5 Tips For Planning A Wedding On A Budget

by Sarah on October 18, 2009

Planning a wedding can be a challenge even if you have allot of money to spend. But some of us just don’t have a large budget. This makes having a wedding even more of a challenge. The good news is that weddings are not really about how big and expensive you can make them. They are really about celebrating the love and joining of two families.

Here are 6 tips that will help you bring down the cost of your wedding.

Tip #1 What Can You Borrow?

Many couples that are on a budget have to do more themselves and cut corners in different areas. One of those areas is renting items. For example, you might be able to borrow silverware, tables, chairs, cake knife, and many other items rather then spend money renting them. Are your guests going to be able to tell that you borrowed this stuff? Not likely. So don’t worry about it.

Tip #2 Get Help From Family And Friends

Your biggest asset is sometimes who you know. Take the time to think about all the people you know and how they can do some work for your wedding. Most people don’t mind. It makes people feel valuable to be able to help out. Do you know someone who can make you a cake? Do you know someone who will help do some cooking? Do you know someone who can do some of the flower arrangements?

Tip #3 Avoid Renting A Limo

The reality is that any car will do. If you don’t have a nice car to ride in you can always borrow someone who does have a nice car. The limo is not really that necessary and just adds up to an expensive fee.

Tip #4 Shop For Sales

Always be a smart shopper. Look for sales on a wedding dress. They are out there too. You can find some really great gowns on discount racks. Keep in mind that you can always have a little work done on a gown to make it look even better. The same should go with food. If you can freeze something buy it when it is on sale.

Tip #5 Choose A Cheap Date

Who says you have to have a wedding on Saturday in the afternoon? You really don’t. Your wedding could be on Friday or even early Sunday mourning. Both dates could save you allot of cash.

Plan your fantasy wedding on a budget. Avoid wedding scams and get the lowest prices on every part of your wedding. It’s simple, it works, is stress free, and makes planning your wedding fun.
